Introducing My Family To My Parents

I have found time for myself. I went to bed and slept. But I can't sleep. Unexpected thoughts of my parents are constant intrusions in my mind. It has been a long time since I have been back to Malta, my homeland. I haven't heard anything from them in years. I don't know how to contact them. All of my friends left with me to find work in other countries. To get my mind off my worries, I turned on my computer.I wanted to dispel the loneliness I suddenly felt, I went online. I looked at my email and was puzzled by the name of one of the senders. The sender's name is someone I highly recognize.

Seeing her message excited me. It turned it was from a neighbour back in Malta. What happened was she was on Facebook one time and saw that we both were friends with someone. She had asked that friend if she knew how to contact me. He was the one who gave my email address to her. She gave me an update on my parents' condition. They were eager to know how I am. She went on to tell me of an uncle's recent death. I remembered that particular brother of my mom, he was very generous to our family. He would also give presents to all of us children on our birthdays.

I decided right there and then to visit Malta. I don't need to seek an affordable family holidays to Malta to go there. I will bring my wife, son and daughter so that my parents can meet the members of my family. I had to tell everyone about my decision over dinner that night. I expected them to balk at my decision, but they didn't; they loved the idea.

I was happy to see Malta International Airport. My wife and kids were delighted with the view. I was ecstatic. I was very glad to see that Malta has developed into a contemporary European country. The roadside are filled with sky rise buildings, it has become highly urbanised. Roads from the airport to my parents' house in the country are already paved.

I disclosed to my newly acquainted neighbor that we will visit my parents but she should not reveal that information. However, she let on that they would have house guests shortly. My parents were perplexed but they trusted the neighbor so they acted on the information given them. They arranged the backyard and cleaned the house. My parents were so delighted to see us. My mother and father took turns to shower me with hugs and kisses. Then I introduced my wife, son and daughter. They too were received happily by my parents. They lavished hugs and kisses on my family, too. We brought gifts for my mom and dad. They were so moved because of the gifts. We also visited the family of my late uncle. Before we left, my parents told me to get in touch with us from time to time. I nodded happily.

Three Cities That Explain Why I Consider Italy Ideal For My Holiday

We all have different preferences when it comes to choosing a destination where one spends his holidays. When it comes to holiday destinations, there is no place better for me than Italy. Many may not agree with me as France may be a better holiday destination for them; however, it is its history that lures me to Italy. Italy's appeal may have stemmed from its food or the Mafia films that I love to watch. What is true, however, is that I will pick Italy over any country any time when it comes to a holiday.

The grandeur of the Roman Empire is one of the reasons why the allure of Italy is very strong for me. In reality, Italy is the true successor of Rome, unlike what Russia and Germany claims to be. The map says it all - the capital of Rome is within the jurisdiction of Italy. However, it is not the only reason why I deduced that Italy is the successor of Rome One has to taste and take a whiff of Italy for one to understand the grandeur that defined the once-great Roman Empire.

One good example is the Vatican, the seat of the Roman Catholic church. Vatican is nestled with another Italian city but, despite its small size, its sovereignty is recognised by many countries worldwide. The Vatican is also known as the Papal home or the Holy See. Vatican is to Catholics what Mecca is to the Mohammedans. Even though I am not a Catholic, I still would want to go to Rome and visit the Vatican. The Vatican signifies history and antiquity, and that is where my interest lies. If you let your imagination run wild, you can even take the Vatican as one huge art piece. Works of art of both Bernini and Michaelangelo can be found at the Vatican. Bernini is known for his architectural design of St. Peter's Square or Piazza di San Pietro while Michaelangelo contributed several frescoes inside the Basilica of St. Peter, including the fresco The Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel.

Of course, Italy is where the city of Florence is located. Florence or Firenze in Renaissance times is the home of many renowned Renaissance artists and inventors. Most notable of these is Leonardo da Vinci, a name known for his iconic Mona Lisa painting. Da Vinci was also an inventor and, in fact, he has several theoretical inventions that were military in nature like the initial theoretical helicopter as well as a hang glider. His diaries also contained schematics and specifications for a steam cannon, as well. Aside from being the home of Leonardo, the city of Florence is home to a number of intact examples of Renaissance architecture, like the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Piazza del Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio and many others.

Of course, you cannot talk about Italian holiday destinations without mentioning Venice. This is a city that I will someday experience a holiday in. One of the things I would like to do in Venice is take an heavenly ride through its canal network on board a gondola so I can see all the things that Venice can offer me as a traveller. Venice is undoubtedly a very romantic and historical city that can accommodate the holidaymaker looking for a relaxing travel destinations for his cheap holidays deals 2013.
